Fourth graders had fun practicing their math and science skills before Thanksgiving break! They used fractions to prepare homemade butter, whipped cream, and pancakes, then applied their science knowledge to identify the different types of energy used throughout the process. 🥞

It was a delicious, hands-on lesson! 🍽️

GHS’ Hope Squad hosted “Beads of Gratitude” the week before Thanksgiving. Students earned beads by writing Thank You cards to peers or staff and would compete against each other by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors throughout the week. Over the course of the week over 170 Gratitude Cards were distributed to students and staff. The Championship Game took place Friday afternoon where the winner received a large goodie basket.

Strong attendance builds strong learners! 💪

When students are in school consistently, they build confidence, stay on track academically, and form lasting connections with peers and staff.

Here are a few tips for maintaining great attendance all year long:

➡️ Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine
➡️ Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible
➡️ Reach out to your school if your child faces challenges getting to class

Every day counts—thank you for helping us support student success! 🌟

Ms. Pearson's Tech Math class heard from DR Tech employee Erik Kordt on the importance of math in the real world!

Students got to hear about the math used in the welding field and even took the DR Tech test, given to all potential employees to gauge their mathematical proficiency. Thank you to Mr. Kordt for sharing his insights with our students! 🙏

Each year, students in Mr. Lehne's Government class participate in a mock Senate committee hearing. The students ask questions of expert witnesses on the bill being proposed. ✅

This committee is discussing the issue of a national high school graduation test. After hearing from the witnesses, the committee decides whether to forward the bill to the full Senate for a vote.

At the elementary, both 1st and 2nd graders read Balloons Over Broadway, a picture book that tells the true story of Tony Sarg—the puppeteer who invented the giant balloons featured in the traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. This fun read-aloud connected history to a beloved family Thanksgiving tradition. 🎈

Following the story, 2nd-grade students had the opportunity to design their very own Macy’s Parade balloons. The project was completed with cutouts of each student pretending to hold their “larger-than-life” balloons as they floated down the streets of New York City! 🏙️
