Nelson Primary is hanging out while all the students at GES started in their new classrooms today! We are excited about the addition to our school and can't wait for Nelson to join the fun for the 2024.2025 school year.

Congratulations to the GHS Academic Decathlon team on a great season! 🎓
The team qualified for and competed at state in Green Bay in mid-March. Students also completed individually at regionals against the other teams and did well, taking home six ribbons.
Great work, students!

Every Kindergarten class needs a landfill and a compost 😆! We just finished our unit on taking care of the earth so we have been celebrating Earth Day in an unusual way! We have been collecting our breakfast and lunch compostable materials and have been adding it to our compost jar. We also collected some of our trash to add to our landfill jar!

Miss Dahl's 3rd grade class celebrated Earth Day all day by learning about the importance of protecting our earth and brainstorming ideas how they can help make a difference. Students got to design and decorate a reusable bag and take home seeds to plant milkweed for the butterflies and other pollinators. To wrap up the day they spent the afternoon picking up trash from our school campus as well as within the surrounding areas in the community. 🌎

After finishing a big portion of state testing, GMS students took a well-deserved snack break—with a twist! Everyone wore their snacks as a SNACKLACE (snack + necklace)!
Students (and teachers) showed up with a variety of creative snack masterpieces. It was a fun way to enjoy a treat and burn off some post-test energy on the playground!

Pirate Apparel & Design students continue to support our district's clubs, organizations, and sports by designing and manufacturing items like flags, bags, water bottles and clothing! 💯
Each student in the program has a specific job as a designer, manufacturer or business person. They learn essential skills they will take with them as they pursue careers after graduation!

In anticipation of our upcoming ‘Cycles in Nature’ unit we will be hatching our own babies 🐥 🐥 🐥
The students will help manage the incubator, as well as, get to spend time with the new chicks once hatched .
This is a 21 day process so we can plan for some babies to start hatching around April 30.
Don’t worry these will not be auctioned off as pets at the end of our experiment. Thanks to Beth Ryan & Amanda Melin (Oliver’s mom) for providing the fertilized eggs.

Late this winter, 121 students at Grantsburg Elementary and Nelson Primary schools elected to participate in the American Heart Association Heart Heroes fundraiser. Under the facilitation of PE teacher Scott Erickson, the students collected donations that were given to the AHA to be used for public health education, professional education and training, research and community service. Collectively, the K-3 student fundraisers gathered a staggering $22,412.52! To recognize their outstanding efforts, the Dallas, Texas based physical education supplier US Games donated nearly $2,000 in gift certificates to the Grantsburg schools to be put toward equipment for the elementary PE department.
As an incentive for the students. Mr. E volunteered to be hit in the face with a pie by the top-3 student fundraisers at both Nelson and GES. Those students were: Corbin Kruse, Jian Corrigan and Harper Reis at GES and Ray Lamoureux, Nora Crocker and Indie Tooze at Nelson Primary.

Last week we celebrated the Lakeland Scholar Athletes hosted by Unity High School. We are very proud to announce Megan Schafer as the Grantsburg High School's award winner! Congratulations!
