Our 4th and 5th grade students have been working hard to meet positive behavior expectations. Students who demonstrated positive behavior in November were entered in a drawing to throw pies at their teachers and principal! 🥧 Congratulations on your continued personal growth. It’s certainly paying off! 🏴‍☠️#GoGrantsburgPirates

We are wrapping up our Kindness Campaign. Thank you to everybody for participating. Mrs. Moritz will be notifying families that were drawn for a gift certificate to The Country Store! Have a wonderful break, I continue to fill buckets and spread kindness. Brae Norenberg wrapped Christmas gifts to donate. Aaron Handy bought his sister a flower after her school play performance, set up the Christmas Nativity scene all by himself, and helped Mom and Dad wash clothes! Brynnlee and Kimber Nelson and Eve, Kane and Asher Bowman created fun Christmas decorations for a family friend in poor health.

Exciting day at Grantsburg Middle School! 🌟 On December 5, our 5th graders attended a K9 Officer information session and demonstration. Deputy Sheriff Bailey Mangen, Police Chief Mitch Olson, and the talented K9 duo Croix and Tracker came to the middle school to teach our students about alcohol and drug abuse prevention. This special event marked the conclusion of our annual 5th grade Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) awareness and prevention lessons, courtesy of the Burnett County Health and Human Services Department. A big shoutout goes to Amanda Leckel for her outstanding leadership in crafting these crucial lessons and organizing this unforgettable experience! 🏴‍☠️#GoGrantsburgPirates

GES & Nelson Primary love all the family pictures for our Kindness Campaign. After Olivia was upset because she didn't have pompoms to dance with, Kate got out her art supplies and made her some. A lot of dancing ensued. Jossy is making Christmas cards for others. Lexie painted Skylynn's nails.

Our Kindergarten students went on a virtual field trip to a dairy farm named Old McDonald's Farm in northern New York. They toured a dairy farm, checked in on newborn calves, and learned how cows are milked and how milk is transferred to trucks to be made into milk products like cheese and Cheese-it's. Our students also adopted and named a calf! Our calf was born just after midnight this morning, and we named her Cookie! The Kindergarten students will receive updates on Cookie throughout the school year!

We have some more families participating in our Kindness Campaign. Don't forget to share your pictures with Mrs. Moritz so you can be entered into the drawing for a gift certificate on Friday! There is a link in Seesaw to submit pictures. Cooper was working on his math homework, and Harper was helping him. Harper comforts her little cousin Theo when he is feeling sad. Henry Kaiser & Ada Bertelsen (cousins) are baking holiday cookies! We love that Coach Olson is helping our 1st and 2nd graders learn how to play basketball! Sarah & Calvin had a movie night and were hunting buddies! Family time always fills buckets! Little Pirate Henry Kaiser is helping mom wrap presents! He said he learned how to do it in Mrs. Bartlett's class!

Mrs. Vilstrup's class is counting down the last 12 days before Christmas break with a "12 Days of Kindness" countdown. They kicked off the 12 days of kindness by reading The 12 Days of Kindness by Jenna Lettice. Each day, students will have a kindness focus which includes some of the following activities: smile at someone in the hallway, write your principal a sweet note, play with a new friend at recess, and complete school work with a good attitude. The students look forward to their kindness task each day!
