GES & Nelson have started a Kindness Campaign. Students, staff, and families are all working together to be "Bucket Fillers" and focus on kindness in the last few weeks leading up to break. We encourage families to send pictures to highlight all the good they are doing! Below are pictures people have already shared.

Nelson Primary & Grantsburg Elementary Staff like to share in the Halloween fun!
Kindergartners at Nelson Primary tested their sense of taste in a fun and engaging activity as part of their current unit on their five senses! Students tasted sour, sweet, bitter, and salty foods, and kept a record of whether they enjoyed the taste.
2nd Grade has been studying the states of matter. Yesterday’s focus was the state of gas.
Today we did a spooky experiment to see what would happen when we mix water, vinegar, and baking soda in a Frankenstein ziploc baggie.
It wasn’t the explosion they anticipated, but we observed the gasses expand and max out the bag!
3rd Grade went to Crex Meadows on a field trip this October. Students could trek through the pond to explore and identify invertebrates, a connection to our Animal Classification unit. Students also were able to learn and apply their knowledge of survival skills in activities such as building shelters!

🥞📚 Second graders were inspired by their recent Paul Bunyan story to make “colossal pancakes” in celebration of their unit on fairy tales and tall tales!
First grade is learning about the human body. We made our own hand x-rays.

3rd-grade students had a tea party to celebrate the end of their first reading unit, Wind in the Willows. Students enjoyed some treats, a photo booth, and even some English tea!
Mrs. Bartlett’s Little Pirates at Nelson Elementary enjoyed the latest lesson in the Healthy Minds Innovations curriculum!
They planted grass seeds in a cup with their picture on it and used kind words and actions to help them (and others) grow. They will be elated to see the grass grow to look like their hair!
A properly fitted backpack can make a big difference in a child's comfort and overall health.
Join us this Backpack Awareness Month as we focus on backpack safety and wellbeing for our students! We encourage parents and caregivers to check the weight, fit, and size of their child's backpacks to help prevent discomfort and promote healthy posture.

Frederic/Grantsburg K of C Council #6370 invites all boys and girls ages 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 to participate in our Punt, Pass, & Kick contest. (Age as of August 31). The contest will be held on
Saturday, September 16 at the Siren High School Football Field at 10:00 am Registration starting at 9:15. Cleats are encouraged.
