As part of our 2nd grade Early Asian Civilizations unit, students read The Blind Men and the Elephant. Told through a poem, this fable describes how each blind man imagines an elephant based on the part he touches—reminding us that different perspectives can help us understand the bigger picture!
Students then put their creativity to work by drawing and painting their own Asian elephants. 🖼️

Our second graders celebrated the end of our Fairy Tale & Tall Tale Unit with a day full of flannel, fun, and COLOSSAL-sized pancakes! 👖🥞
Inspired by the larger-than-life adventures of Paul Bunyan, students enjoyed a flapjack feast fit for a tall tale hero! We loved bringing our learning to life and ending our unit with a little extra fun. ❤️📚

The Fable Olympics consisted of 4 fable themed games. Students tried to touch the grapes like in the story "The Fox and the Grapes", tried to balance a milk pail on their head like in "The Maid and the Milk Pail, tried to balance a golden egg to go along with "The Goose and the Golden Egg" and Hopped like Peter from "The Tale of Peter Rabbit".

Choose from two sessions: Tuesday, October 6 from 11:00am to 2:00pm, or Tuesday, October 13 from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
Saturday sessions begin October 3 and run from 9:00 to 11:00am, while Tuesday sessions begin October 6 and run from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the Grantsburg Elementary School Cafeteria Gym.
The cost is $5 per person, per day, and players of all skill levels are welcome. Participants must be age 18 or older, and registration is required.
