This week has been established by the WI School Bus Association as School Bus Driver Appreciation Week! This commemorative week recognizes all school transportation personnel who are involved in the highest standards of safe practices to assure the protection of their passengers, our state's most precious cargo- its children. In Wisconsin, there are more than 12,000 school bus drivers who safely transport more than 400,000 students to and from school each day and travel a total average of 144 million miles per year. This week is an excellent opportunity for students, parents, teachers, administration and our community to show appreciation to these dedicated individuals. These drivers are true heroes ensuring our children have a safe and reliable ride to an and from school every day. We are honored to recognize our drivers and contractors! THANK YOU - Rick, David, Todd, Joel, Lisa, Noah, Kevin, Scott, Virginia, Rich, Duane, Dylan, Angie, Jason, Kara, Karl, Duane, and Wendy! THANK-YOU!!

Fries go good with everything!!! And today 1 cup of French Fries were pared with 10 Chicken Smackers, 1 package of gold fish crackers, 3/4 cup of corn, 1/2 cup mixed fruit, an orange and milk! Fry-science (not taught by Mr. Berg or Ms. Twohy)-- French fries were invented in Beligum, not France! The term "french fries" came from American soldiers during WWI. The average American consumes 30 pounds of french fries in a year! Originally, french fries were traditionally served with mayonnaise, not ketchup! Two men from Buffalo, NY hold the world record for the largest fry-- 34 inches long!! Although there are rumblings one might be out there that is longer! Can you find it??? Thanks to our Food Service staff for these fun and insightful posts this week!

You can call it "basketti"... or "pasgetty"... or "tomato noodles"... no worries! Spaghetti is the Italian fare that's a favorite with most Americans! Did you know that spaghetti was "invented" over 1000 years ago? Or that the largest ever serving of spaghetti filled a swimming pool? The world record for the largest bowl of spaghetti is held by the Buca di Beppa restaurant in Garden Grove, California. In March 2010 they filled a swimming pool with more than 6,251 kg of pasta and 100 gallons of marinara sauce! Our lunch ladies make a lot of spaghetti for our students but not enough to fill the Community Pool! Hmmm... or DO they???? We had spaghetti today-- each student received 1 cup spaghetti, 2/3 cup of marinara sauce, 1 cup of lettuce salad with choice of dressings, 3/4 cup green beans, an apple, a banana, breadstick and milk.

Our 4th and 5th grade students have been working hard to meet positive behavior expectations. Students who demonstrated positive behavior in November were entered in a drawing to throw pies at their teachers and principal! 🥧 Congratulations on your continued personal growth. It’s certainly paying off! 🏴‍☠️#GoGrantsburgPirates

Exciting day at Grantsburg Middle School! 🌟 On December 5, our 5th graders attended a K9 Officer information session and demonstration. Deputy Sheriff Bailey Mangen, Police Chief Mitch Olson, and the talented K9 duo Croix and Tracker came to the middle school to teach our students about alcohol and drug abuse prevention. This special event marked the conclusion of our annual 5th grade Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) awareness and prevention lessons, courtesy of the Burnett County Health and Human Services Department. A big shoutout goes to Amanda Leckel for her outstanding leadership in crafting these crucial lessons and organizing this unforgettable experience! 🏴‍☠️#GoGrantsburgPirates
